Why OmniAccount

Why not a spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet has a plus column and a minus column. Real books have two sides that must agree. That one rule is the difference between a list of numbers and accounts you can trust.

The problemIn a spreadsheetIn OmniAccount
A rent receipt where the tenant deducted TDSOne number, the TDS is lost or in a noteOne line split three ways: bank, TDS receivable, full rent income
Money you moved from the bank to your own cashLooks like an expenseA transfer between two accounts, never an expense
Money you put into the business yourselfLooks like incomeOwner equity: contributions, drawings, capital
The same bank line pasted twiceCounted twiceFlagged as a possible duplicate before it is saved
A mistake fixed last monthGone, no traceVoid and replace: the old line stays restorable, the audit log keeps the change
Five businesses in three currenciesFive files, one manual totalFive entities, one net-worth view at the real rates of the day
The accountant needs to see itEmail the file, hope for the bestInvite with limited access: see and enter, not own
Does it balance? If you did the formulas rightAlways: a transaction cannot be saved unless Debit equals Credit

Plain words first

Money In, Money Out, Received from, Paid to. Debit and Credit are a setting, not a requirement. Tally words appear only inside Help, as translations.

Built around Indian statements

HDFC, ICICI, Bank of India and similar statements paste or upload cleanly. Lakh number format, Indian date formats, ₹ and seven other currencies.

Everything derives from the data

A total, a status or a due amount is never a stored guess. It is computed from the real transactions every time you look.

See the difference with your own statement.
